In September 2015, I started my career as a faculty at the Department of Informatics, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Valparaíso, Chile. Since then, I have stopped updating this site and I am using a new one: https://claudialopezmoncada.com/
My research work focuses on the intersection between information, people and participatory technologies (the rely on user-generated content), particularly in the context of urban communities and civic involvement. My doctoral dissertation was based on a mixed-method investigation of E-Democracy.org, which is a pioneer exemplar of hyper-local participatory technologies for civic involvement in the USA. My new research project looks at how Chilean non-profit organizations are using participatory technologies to engage citizens and achieve their social goals. I am very much looking forward to starting collaborations with students, researchers and nonprofits, so if you think we can work together, go ahead and contact me!
In 2016, I will be teaching Organizations and Information Systems (first semester) and a Seminar in Information Systems Research (second semester). More information about my courses, research projects, students I supervise, and publications are available somewhere else in this site. An older, and longer version of my bio until I was a grad student is here.
